Jeannie Johnson Named Interim Principal of Cleveland Elementary School

The Cedar Rapids Community School District is pleased to announce that Jeannie Johnson has been appointed as the Interim Principal of Cleveland Elementary School for the 2026–2027 school year. Johnson will succeed Condra Allred, who is transitioning to lead Grant Wood Elementary School as its new principal on July 1, 2026.

Johnson's appointment aligns with the district's ongoing commitment to ensuring systemic stability, strong community building, and relationship-first leadership during transitional periods. The 2026–2027 academic year will serve as a celebratory final chapter for Cleveland Elementary ahead of CRCSD's planned facilities reconfiguration.

Nearly Three Decades of Local Educational Excellence

Johnson is a highly respected administrator and educator who has spent 27 years serving students and developing curriculum within the region:

• District Leadership (2020–Present): Served as a CRCSD Instructional Coach and Director of the Home School Assistance Program (HSAP).

• Elementary Education: Spent years as a foundational classroom teacher at both Grant and Hoover elementaries.

• Adult Literacy: Taught adult literacy courses at Kirkwood Community College.

By deploying an experienced internal leader who understands CRCSD's structural procedures and unique school cultures, the district ensures that Cleveland remains fully supported from day one.
