School Choice Permit Process (2026-2027 School Year)

A permit may be requested for one of the following reasons:

• School closing or boundary changes for 2027–2028: Our student's school is closing, or our neighborhood school area is changing.

• Sibling already attends requested school: Our student has a brother or sister who goes to the school we want.

• Parent/guardian works at requested school: A parent or guardian works at the school we want.

• Unique circumstances: We need a different school because of special or unique family reasons.

  Did your family move, but your student wants to stay at their current school? > Do NOT fill out this form. Please contact your student's current school building to change your address, and the school staff will assist you with staying.

Note: To STAY at your student’s current school for the next school year (2026-2027): No action is needed.

You can skip this process if any of the following apply to your student:

• Existing Permits: If your student is already attending a school on a permit and that school is not scheduled for closure, their permit remains valid. No renewal is necessary.
• Magnet Schools: Students currently attending a Magnet school via the lottery system or were just accepted to enroll in the fall of 2026 do not need to apply for a permit to remain at their current school.
• No Change Desired: If you want your student to stay at their current school for the 2026-27 year and their boundaries are not changing, no action is required.
• Family Moved: If your family moved, but your student wants to stay at their current school? Do NOT fill out the permit form. Instead, please contact your student's current school building to change your address in Infinite Campus, and the school staff will assist you with staying.

To apply for the School Choice Permit Process application, please complete the online form for EACH individual student.
Note: We verify all requests using your address in Infinite Campus. If you have moved recently, please update your records by bringing proof of residence to your school office or emailing it to indistrictpermits@crschools.us before applying to avoid processing delays.

Required Information:

• 1st and 2nd choice of requested schools.
• Note: Special review is required for students with an IEP or Foster/Homeless status.

2026-2027 School Choice Permit Application

• Transportation: The district does NOT provide busing for permit students. Families are fully responsible for transportation to and from their choice school.

• Placements & Capacity: All placements are strictly contingent upon building and grade-level capacity. Review is based on reasons such as school closures, changing boundaries, or staff/sibling connections.

• Permit Duration: Once confirmed, a permit remains in effect through the highest grade of that building and follows the standard feeder path, provided you remain a district resident.

• Notifications: All status updates and results will be sent to you via email.
