Is an In-District Permit Right for My Student?

You may request an In-District Permit if you would like your student to attend a CRCSD school outside their assigned attendance area.

An In-District Permit may be requested for one of the following reasons:
We moved, but want to stay: Our student moved outside the school boundaries but wants to remain at their current school. (Updated proof of residency required)
School closing or boundary changes: Our student is affected by school closures or attendance boundary changes.
Sibling or Staff connection: A sibling attends, or a parent/guardian works at the requested school.
Unique circumstances: We are requesting a transfer due to unique family needs.

Have You Moved?
All In-District Permit requests are verified using the address currently on file in Infinite Campus.
If you have recently moved, please update your address by providing proof of residence to your student's school office or by emailing indistrictpermits@crschools.us before submitting your application.
Updating your address first helps prevent processing delays.
 

You do not need to submit an In-District application if: 

Your Student Already Has an Approved In-District Permit
Your student's permit remains in effect and does not need to be renewed unless you are notified otherwise by the district.
Your Student Attends a Magnet School
Students attending a Magnet School through the lottery process, or students already accepted to attend a Magnet School, do not need an additional In-District Permit.

Complete one application for each student requesting to attend a school outside their assigned attendance area.

2026-2027 School Choice Permit Application

• Transportation: The district does NOT provide busing for permit students. Families are fully responsible for transportation to and from their choice school.

• Placements & Capacity: All placements are strictly contingent upon building and grade-level capacity. Review is based on reasons such as school closures, changing boundaries, or staff/sibling connections.

• Permit Duration: Once confirmed, a permit remains in effect through the highest grade of that building and follows the standard feeder path, provided you remain a district resident.

• Notifications: All status updates and results will be sent to you via email.
