America Reads: Reading is Contagious

America Reads is a national challenge to improve literacy in elementary school-age children. Metro area school districts will celebrate the importance of reading during the month of October. The reading dates for 2026 are October X for Marion Independent and Xavier Catholic Schools, and Truman ELC (CRCSD), and October X for Cedar Rapids, College, and Linn-Mar Community Schools. If you are still interested in reading, please reach out to your school district and the school you would like to read at.
